Issue 4 (May 2009) Windhoek is getting a new luxury hotel – the African Pride Eliakim Namundjebo Plaza.
The 125-room hotel is currently being developed within Windhoek’s new
Freedom Plaza, a mixed-use development with shops, homes, offices,
entertainment and a hotel all in a single location.
Construction has just started and is expected to take around two years.
The hotel, will have a casino on the lower-ground floor; a restaurant,
cocktail lounge and terrace bar on the first floor; a business centre,
executive boardrooms and a cigar bar on the upper floors and a gym, spa and pool on the roof.
African Pride says respecting the environment is integral to the
development of the Eliakim Namundjebo Plaza. The hotel will have solar
panels, green roofs and solar control, while making use of intelligent
lighting, thermal and coloured glass.
It will link with Freedom Plaza and its tourism kiosk, business facilities, craft market, taxi rank and bus station.
